What is the platysma?
The platysma is a thin, broad muscle running from under the chin to the upper chest. With age and habitual use its edges become visible as vertical bands on the neck. The same muscle pulls the lower facial line downwards, which can blur the jaw border.
How it is done
The bands are identified by hand while the patient contracts the muscle, then injected superficially along their length in small doses. The session takes 15–25 minutes.
Afterwards
The effect becomes clear within 1–2 weeks and lasts 4–6 months on average. Where there is marked skin excess or fat in the neck, this alone may not be enough; expectations are discussed openly.
Who is it not suitable for?
Not performed in pregnancy or breastfeeding, in neuromuscular disease, in those with a history of swallowing difficulty, or with active infection in the area.

Aftercare
- Do not lie down for 4–6 hours.
- Do not massage the area.
- Avoid strenuous exercise and heat for 48 hours.
- Report any difficulty swallowing to the clinic.
